Cali Vacation Pt 1!

Two weeks ago Levi and I went on vacation to Southern California.  We flew out bright and early on Wednesday and landed at LAX around 8:30 am.  We picked up our rental car…we were total tourists and rented a convertible.  It was bright orange but the weather was perfect for it!

We drove down along the coast past Manhattan and Hermosa Beach and we ended up in Laguna Beach.  We walked around the town and then found a rooftop patio overlooking the ocean. We had some chips and salsa and the best skinny margarita I have ever had!!  It was at The Rooftop Lounge. I am still daydreaming about that margarita.  Being in Laguna Beach made my 17 year old self giddy thinking about the show I used to love!

If you have a good skinny margarita recipe, send it my way!

From there we drove to our friends’ house.  I went to college with Ashlee And Alex and they let us stay at their house Wednesday night.  Ashlee had margaritas and chicken tacos waiting for us when we arrived.  She is the cutest hostess ever!!  Not only is their house and view gorgeous, their dog Astro is freaking adorable!!

We had an awesome night of cocktails (sparkling water for Ashlee…she’s pregnant!!) and catching up.  It was the perfect way to kick off our trip.

Sunsets and cocktails with friends are everything!!

Thursday morning we headed out and drove the hour to LA with a pit stop at In and Out Burger!  We arrived at our AirBNB, changed and then headed to a taping of Conan!  It is completely a lottery and they seat you according to your party size and somehow we ended up in the front row!!

We sat directly next to Andy Richter’s stand!  Alec Baldwin was the main guest.  His Trump impersonations were really funny and it was so interesting to see how the show is tapped.  We will definitely go to more shows when we visit CA again!

From there we headed to West Hollywood.  I was obsessed with the neighborhood and the restaurants there.  We randomly pulled into a lot to park and it was the back side of SUR!  I am a total Bravo junkie and was so happy!!

We had reservations at 8:45 at SUR so we headed to PUMP for drinks and an appetizer. PUMP was probably my favorite place we visited.  The food and drinks were good (had a PUMPtini) but the courtyard area is absolutely stunning!  The trees, lights, candles and setup are just magical.  This is a definite must when visiting LA.  Sit on the patio!!

Vacation is like one long date and I love it!

We walked down the block to SUR for dinner.  No one famous was working…Lisa’s business partner was there though.  Of course we had the goat cheese balls.  They were delicious and even Levi who doesn’t like goat cheese liked them.  I had pasta and Levi had mashed potatoes and meatloaf.  Both were awesome but Levi’s meatloaf was out of this world.  It must have been made out of prime rib or something.  It was sooo tender and tasted like bacon.  The lighting is terrible but they were the only pictures we took there 🙂

SUR’s goat cheese balls were even better than I imagined!

The first couple of days were amazing!  I will recap Friday and Saturday later this week.  Have a fabulous evening!
