Happy Tuesday babes! How have things been going for you? I hope your summer has been going really well so far. Ours has been CRAZY busy. We have had a lot of fun in August have and have been going out of town lately. Levi and I were in Arkansas, then Winfield and then hosted my sister’s baby shower this last weekend. We have had a blast seeing family and friends and getting to get out of town some!
Speaking of traveling some the last month, after we got back from our California trip in May, I was sampling some different face creams and serums. I broke out with a small rash on my face. I wasn’t sure which serum or cream had broken me out and I couldn’t get it to go away. I do have sensitive skin and I’m allergic to certain things like chemical sunscreens and even certain toothpastes, so I picked up some items that I thought be easy on my skin to help it recover.I have been super happy with my skin lately and I’ve been getting some compliments and questions on my skin care routine as well so I thought I would share what I have been using. It’s a little random but for the most part everything is really affordable too!
I alternate between these two face washes. I have the Cetaphil in my shower for the mornings and the Aveeno is what I wash with at night. Both take my makeup off great and seem to make my skin feel clean without extra dryness or tightness. I like the Aveeno at night because it has salicylic acid and it helps exfoliate the skin overnight. Both are super gentle on the skin and I haven’t had any issues with them.
Next I use a toner. I am OBSESSED with this toner by Avalon Organics. This toner is alcohol free so it doesn’t dry you out and is loaded with vitamin C to help combat environmental stress and damage. There are no GMOs, it’s vegan & biodegradable as well as being free of parabens, sulfates, preservatives, synthetic colors and fragrances, and phthalates and never any animal testing. Sounds like a win-win to me! I use toner day and night and just put a little on a cotton ball.
Oils and serums are a must for my skin…they are what makes the difference!
Feel free to use only one if you like but I like them each for different reasons! I like the rosehip oil because it makes my skin dewy for makeup during the day. And the Truth Serum packs an extra punch of vitamin C so I like that to be on my skin overnight…and it smells delicious!
The rosehip seed oil is a huge bottle so I actually just use one of my old serum bottles and put some in there for daily use and keep the extra oil in the fridge so it will still fresh.
Vitamin C can help brighten, visibly firm, and deliver all-day hydration to your skin. Rosehip seed oil can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, eye bags, and fine lines. Studies have shown that Rosehip Seed Oil also helps reverse the adverse effects of prolonged sun exposure and even can help reduce scarring! Sign me up!!!
***Side note: Anytime you incorporate an oil into your skin routine, it can take a little bit for your skin to adjust to it. So if you decide to try this, try and do it for 2 weeks to see if it works for you.***
Lastly I follow with a light moisturizer, especially during the summer. I just grab whatever is closest but I switch it up with Cetaphil Face and Body Lotion and Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. Both of these products are super hydrating without being thick and clogging my pores. Cetaphil’s line is great for people with sensitive skin because they don’t have fragrances. Their products are specifically designed for people with skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.
I am big fan of Caudalie’s products like their masks and beauty elixir. Some of their products are a bit pricey so I am picky with what I buy from them. I may change up my moisturizers come winter but for now these seem to be doing the trick for me!
If you try out some of the products let me know! What are your skin care routine must haves? Any thing I need to try!
